After six years of extensive European touring as a member of the awarding-winning folk band, CARA, Edinburgh-based pianist and singer/songwriter Kim Edgar performs songs from her three critically acclaimed solo albums and shares brand new compositions in Stockbridge Parish Church at 7.30 pm on Saturday 17th August 2019. Not one to shy away from hard topics, Kim’s songs will address issues including domestic violence, how love remains as a legacy after death, addiction, and the baby steps to recovery.
“An inspired empathy…her gentle personality and relaxed interaction would melt the stoniest of hearts…an artist clearly at the top of her game.” ***** Fringe Review
Described as Scotland’s “very own Tori Amos” (Sunday Herald) and “a heady cocktail of Carole King and Regina Spektor” (Spiral Earth), Kim’s live performances have been noted for their intimacy and intensity, with five star reviews. After appearances at Fishguard Folk Festival, Gate To Southwell Festival and How The Light Gets In 2019, Kim will be returning to home turf, performing solo on a Steinway baby grand, acoustic guitar and vocals.
“You’d be hard-pressed to find any blind spots in her set…unusually impressive: a compelling and pleasing performer on stage, and a smart, catchy songwriter to boot.” **** Broadway Baby
Kim commented: “I’m delighted to be back performing in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe – it’s one of my favourite festivals! I’m looking forward to sharing brand new songs which may feature on my next solo album, set for release next year – and I’ll be welcoming feedback from the Edinburgh audience.”
