Most people will know Sue Marchant from her time spent at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and the whole of the Eastern Region. In the good old days, she had a three hour evening show on weekdays and a fantastic evening show on Sundays. Everyone wanted to come on Sue’s shows, whether it be world famous musicians, actors, writers, novelists, poets, local experts, Monday money and many more. On many an evening there were live guests in the studio playing all different types of music.
Sue’s passion lies in live music (apart from her avid love of her chickens, cats, rabbits and cosmic camper van) and helping new and unexposed musicians/bands to gain experience playing live. She has given her audience the opportunity to hear about the massive wealth of talent both here in the UK and abroad. Over recent years she has honed into hosting specialist shows playing folk, roots and Americana.
Sue is also involved with the Ely Folk Festival, Folk East, Cambridge Folk Festival, The Cambridge Rock Festival, Gate to Southwell Festival, Festivals for Rock and Blues and Folk at Butlins Skegness and anywhere else that she can spread her enthusiasm for live music.
Sue took voluntary redundancy from BBC Radio Cambridgeshire at the end of last year and now her future lies in building a global reputation. Still wanting to promote her love of folk music and inspiring this love in others, Sue has jumped at the chance to set up a new folk show on DELUX Radio, where only the very best music is selected by their DJ’s who have the freedom to choose whatever they want to play while being able to express their unique personalities, just like Radio used to be! Based in the UK and attracting listeners from all over the world. Her show goes out Saturday Evenings 8-10pm. https://www.deluxradio.co.uk/
Sue is also putting out a folk show on Spotted in Ely, a community station in its infancy in Sue’s home town, where she a vibrant member of the local community. Monday Evenings 7-9pm. https://www.facebook.com/SpottedInEly/
Sue is really excited by these new opportunities that modern technology allows. There are many plans and projects which will revealed as they happen. One of which is Groovy Sue’s Market Stall and website,a tremendously exciting extension of her hobby of collecting antiques and essential oils, or anything that smells good and groovy.
