Cleckheaton Folk Festival 2020 – Growing Great Places

Categories: Festivals | News

Plans for the 2020 Folk Festival on 3rd, 4th & 5th July are well under way and this year we are aiming to be bigger and better than ever. We are aiming to provide a weekend of free family orientated entertainment for local people of all ages, with an opportunity to experience and learn new forms of music and dance, both as audience and as participants. There will be lots to do for all the family throughout the weekend.

As a result, people are attracted to the town to the benefit of local traders both on the weekend and subsequently. Over the years we have worked alongside local organisations and schools to enhance the community involvement and to bring new opportunities for engagement. Local churches, schools, dance schools, businesses and voluntary organisations have all been involved providing contributions to the parade and to dance presentations. Children’s entertainment in the form of Bouncy Castles, Punch & Judy, Circus Skills with Crafty Devils and Face Painters have all added to the weekend’s attraction.

Now comes the crunch, all this comes at a cost!! In order for our Festival Volunteers to ensure the safety of participants and attendees we need to raise £5000 so we are Crowdfunding to pay for insurance, First Aid, Traffic Management and Street Theatre. We have joined the Kirklees “Growing Great Places” scheme which means we need to raise £2500 and Kirklees will pledge the balance, so we need YOUR help.
