Live at Stainsby 2004

A live album for £4? Well it's CD-R rather than a commercial release, but that's whats so good about the times we live in, you can get your hands on more great music via CD and the net than ever before.

Chris Carr of Left Hand Drive is also an accomplished solo artist. This recording is from the Stainsby festival of 2004, he was accompanied by Rosana Coll on backing vocals and Luke Alton on Fender Rhodes Piano and more backing vocals.

The first thing to strike you about this is how well recorded it is, no rough edges to distract from Chris's great songs and the trio's consumate performance. Carr is one of those singer songwriter's who is as powerful accompanied by a single guitar as a whole band, Rosana and Luke serve to enrich the songs and make them swell with a deep emotion.

Ten rich and varied songs, a couple of which appear on Left Hand Drive's Uncle Colins Greenhouse album. They feel different in this performance. I'm Not Dancing is a stand out track, Rosana has a great voice as she duets with Chris.

What this CD captures perfectly is that moment when you catch an act at a festival in a tent and stand there transfixed with a smile on your face. Maybe you only came in because there was a light summer rain falling, but by the time you wander out the suns beating down on you.

Just buy it, for that price you can't lose. Go on...
