'Every year we've tried to bring the best musicians in the world to CNSP and every year has bettered the next. This year we've put together our strongest music line up yet! Our team have managed to combine the highest quality bands with new and emerging talent that will wow the crowds. There are so many exciting acts this year- while you’re here you won’t be able to stop dancing and you’re bound to leave with a new favourite band!'
With a sound that recalls Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash; acclaimed American singer/songwriter Willy Mason has developed a loyal and large following in the UK. Championed by musicians such as the Chemical Brothers and Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, Willy Mason has even undertaken a tour that included fans living rooms.
Mercury Music Prize nominee Seth Lakeman is a celebrated English folk singer/songwriter and virtuoso fiddler. Following wide critical acclaim of his first solo album The Punch Bowl in 2002, Seth has enjoyed sell-out tours and five further albums.
With Clannad and as a solo artist, Grammy winner Moya Brennan has been a true pioneer of Celtic Music. Her career to date includes 25 albums, numerous film scores and collaborations with other great artists, including The Chieftains, Robert Plant, Paul Brady, Shane MacGowan and, of course,
Bono who recently said of her, "She has one of the greatest voices the human ear has ever experienced”.
Fronted by Kate Stables This is the Kit are a band to watch out for and have been described by BBC 6 Music’s Cerys Matthews as “Absolutely gorgeous, like an aural bath with the warm water lapping over you”; while the mad and catchy “circus-swing” of Gabby Young and Other Animals has been described by 6 Music as “Howling mad and completely irresistible”.
It’s not just the music that will be wowing the crowds. With as much emphasis on activities as the line-up there is always something engaging, exciting or eccentric going on- whether it’s taking in walkabout theatre or circus performance; trying out the abundance of arts, crafts and workshops; joining the glow of the night time lamp parade; attempting to master the mutated wonders of the crazy bikes or playing with the treasure-chest of circus equipment poured over the site. There’s even the chance to continue the frenzy of Olympic fever sweeping the country and get active at CNSP’s very own Sports Academy- under the watchful gaze of our very own team of professional, qualified coaches.
With a quality line-up and packed programme of events, Croissant Neuf Summer Party 2012 looks to be the best year yet.
