Two biopics of Jeff Buckley in the works

The life of the iconic Jeff Buckley is the subject of 'Greetings From Tim Buckley' which premiered successfully at the Toronto Film Festival this year. In a bizarre twist (as s often the case with Hollywood), there is another film in the works, but that project has still to pin down a director and leading man.

Greetings From Tim Buckley follows Jeff as he is invited to perform at a 1991 benefit concert for his late father, Tim Buckley. The younger Buckley only barely knew the elder, who died of an overdose in 1975, and the concert represented his own eulogy to his father and also his breakthrough into the music industry.

Writer / director Daniel Algrant and co-writers David Brendel and Emma Sheanshang have cast Penn Badgley as Jeff - and he seems to have given a good performace in this trailer.

No release dates as yet, but the positive reception from the screening in Toronto should help it find a distributor soon
