Jan Bell and Will Scott UK tour 2012

New York City based songwriters, Will Scott and Jan Bell, will be on tour in the UK from July 18 to August 1st, 2012. In support of Scott’s acclaimed album, "Keystone Crossing,” and Bell’s upcoming album “Dream of the Miner's Child.” The tour begins and ends near London with stops in between that include performances in Lewes, Brighton, Gillingham, and Broseley. This trip is Scott and Bell’s fifth UK tour together since their 2009 debut at The Glastonbury Festival. Shows generally include one or more sets from each artist, with a few collaborations.

Originally from Indiana, Scott blends soulful Americana and hill country blues, delivered with a voice that The New York Press describes as “thick as blood.” Scott’s live performances are known as some of the best in the industry (Twisted South Magazine).

Americana UK calls him “One of the most impressive new acts of his kind to come along in quite some time.” Both  his previous album "Gnawbone" (4 stars - Q magazine) and the recent "Keystone Crossing" were nominated in the Blues category (Independent Music Awards), and continue to receive praise in the US and Europe.

Jan Bell was born in Barnsley and, since moving to the US in her teens, has made a name for herself as an alt. country songwriter. Her songs have been covered by Jolie Holland, Samantha Parton (The Be Good Tanyas), and many others. Bell’s album, Songs for Love Drunk
Sinners, won the Independent Music Awards “Alt. Country Album of The Year” receiving four star reviews in  The Village Voice, The Nashville Scene, Americana UK, and NOW Toronto among others. The new album 'Dream of the Miner's Child' traces the links between Celtic, Appalachian and Bell's original songs rooted in her Yorkshire childhood. She was also featured in the London Sunday Times, proclaiming her a “latter-day Loretta Lynn from a Yorkshire coal-mining background whose roots still show.”
