Whether you are a band, duo or solo act, you can enter the New Shoots Competition to play three songs in front of our panel of judges at one of the public heats. If you are selected to go forward, you will be invited to play at the competition final at the end of the festival.

 

 

First prize will be a day of recording at Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire!

Real World Studios was conceived by ex Genesis front man and WOMAD festival founder, Peter Gabriel. It is designed to offer an environment that is sympathetic to the creation of music using state of the art technology to capture the performance.

Bath Folk Festival is a grass roots festival run by and for musicians and dancers who are passionate about folk culture. thsi year it will run from 13 - 19th August.

The Festival is now entering its third year and has already established a reputation as one of the most exciting new folk festivals to emerge in the UK. Over the last two years we have attracted internationally acclaimed acts and a wealth of local talent, brought together by the vision of Festival founders, Marick and Louise Baxter.

Confirmed acts for this year’s Festival include Dave Swarbrick, Tim Edey & Brendan Power, Spiers and Boden, Karen Tweed, Des Hurley, Chris O’Malley, Will Lang, Reg Meuross, John Ruddock, Alan Burke, Malarchy, Inu, Quirkish Delights, Blackthorn and many more.
