Spiral EarthLori Watson and Rule of Three

Widely regarded as a leading fiddler, singer and interpreter of traditional music, Lori Watson grew up in the Scottish Borders playing from a young age. A BBC Scotland Young Trad Musician of the Year 2002 and 2003 Finalist, Lori has performed extensively throughout Britain and Europe. Currently writing a PhD at the RSAMD, Lori's recordings are regularly broadcast on radio, television and the internet throughout Europe and in the USA.

Performing with artists such as Brian McNeill, Aly Bain, Cathal McConnell, Dick Gaughan, Duncan Chisholm, Karine Polwart, The Unusual Suspects and Scottish Women has solidified Lori's reputation as a leading traditional musician of her generation.

Lori's own compositions are both true to the tradition and contemporary. Her singing and fiddle playing deliver a stunning performance rich in personality. There's ample evidence to be found on her 'Lori:Three' album released on her family's own label, ISLE Music Scotland. Always looking to expand her musical abilities she also directed and produced the 'Borders Young Fiddles' album.

Formed in October 2004, Rule of Three is an exciting band celebrating the best of Scottish music combined with their own modern twist. Lori is joined by Fiona Young and Innes Watson to form a dynamic musical three-piece of fiddle and voice, piano accordion and guitar. Danny Award Winners at Celtic Connections 2005, this is a band that gets your feet stomping one minute then plays with heart-rending emotion the next, leaving any audience uplifted.

Last year saw Lori winning a national songwriting competition run by Burnsong. Now she plans to push onward with several exciting recording projects whilst touring with her band.
