Winner of the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2007.

JKrisKris, one of the most in-demand session musicians around, has finally recorded his first solo album, Black Water. He has a unique and distinctive guitar style that's matched by his strong yet gentle vocals.

Born on Orkney, the son of Ivan Drever, former lead singer of Wolfstone. He left for the mainland at the age of seventeen armed with his guitar and soon found himself playing several nights a week in the lively Edinburgh session scene.

Whilst a part of this creative environment Kris became a part of the 'Fine Friday' trio, toured extensively and recorded two albums. He then went on to collaborations with Cathy Ryan of Irish-American supergroup Cherish the Ladies, Scottish fiddlers John McCusker and Bruce MacGregor, Irish accordionist Leo McCann and Gaelic band Tannas, well as tours of the US and South America with the Irish dance show Celtic Fusion. In 2005 joined forces with Aidan O'Rourke and Martin Green to form the Scots trad trio LAU.

Drever's guitar work is identifiably his own, a mix of rythmic influences from jazz to country, his style is melodic and deceptively simple. The story goes that he sung a solo song at a Kate Rusby concert and he was snapped up by Reveal Records as a solo artist.

His solo album is entitled Black Water and is produced by the renowned John McCusker. It features guest appearances by his friends Ewen Vernal, Kate Rusby, Donald Shaw, Andy Seward, Andy Cutting, Roddy Woomble, Eddi Reader. And what a bunch of friends they are...
