Drunk in Public
A Levellers offshoot; Jon, Mark and Simon formed
their own gang with Rev Hammer to play smaller
venues that were difficult to play as the huge rock band colossus they had
become. By smaller venues they really mean pubs where they get free beer
and play a few songs. They didn't think it would go on for too long, but
it's become as much a part of the gig scene as the Levellers themselves.
Drunk in Public give a new twist to Levellers and Rev Hammer's material as well as throwing in a few unexpected covers. Their albums have been done mainly as On The Fiddle (Levs fan club) freebies over the years, but are well worth having in your collection as they really capture the spontaneity and good humour of Drunk In Public.

The DIP story developed recently when the band morphed into a new, strange, kind of beast at a gig in Regents Park in 2007. Jon Sevink had gone on holiday by mistake and they had to rustle up some new members. Rev introduced the new lineup as Daddyshambles, now that's going to stick...
